About Me

The tutor behind the sessions

I'm Mathias, a fourth-year physics major with real-world experience beyond the classroom. As a NASA OSTEM intern at Glenn Research Center and a two-year Program Specialist at Kitt Peak National Observatory, I've explained complex science to audiences ranging from curious kids to VIP groups — and I've gotten very good at making it stick.

I tutor high school and undergraduate students in math, physics, and astronomy. I also bring the telescope to you — private astronomy nights for gatherings, families, and anyone who wants an unforgettable evening under the stars. My approach is always the same: no fluff, no wasted time, just the real thing.

Weather Policy
  • Weather call made by noon on the day of the event
  • Cancelled if forecast shows ≥50% cloud cover, any chance of precipitation, thunder, or humidity >80%
  • You'll hear from me directly as early as possible
On a weather cancellation: 75% refunded — the remaining 25% covers equipment prep, travel time, and scheduling costs.

Rescheduling may be possible depending on availability — just ask.

Tutoring
What is the free intro call?

Before your first paid session, we do a free 10–15 minute call. We'll talk through what you're working on, what's giving you trouble, and what you want to get out of tutoring. No charge, no obligation — just a conversation to make sure we're a good fit.

How far in advance do I need to share my topic?

Please send the specific concept, chapter, or problem set you want to cover at least 36 hours before your session — ideally when you book. This gives me time to review the material thoroughly so every minute of your session counts. If I don't receive a topic in time, I may need to reschedule.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations may be charged the full session fee. I understand emergencies happen — if something urgent comes up, reach out and we can work something out.

What should I bring to a session?

Come with your notes, textbook, and any specific problems you want to go through. The more targeted your questions, the more ground we cover. If you have an upcoming exam, share the topic list or past papers when you book.

Where do sessions take place?

All sessions are online via Zoom or Google Meet. After booking you'll get a calendar invite with the link. A stable internet connection and the ability to share your screen makes things run smoothly.

How does payment work?

Payment is collected at the time of booking through Calendly's Stripe integration. All major cards accepted. Bundles are charged upfront. You'll receive a payment confirmation by email.

What levels do you tutor?

I work with high school and undergraduate students in math, physics, and astronomy — including AP courses and SAT/ACT prep. Not sure if your level fits? Book the free intro call and we'll figure it out.

How do bundles work?

The 5-session bundle is billed upfront at ~$41/hr (vs $55 per single session), saving you $70. Sessions don't expire and can be spread over whatever timeframe works for you. Great for steady support or intensive exam prep.

Astronomy Nights
How do astronomy nights work?

Send me a message through the contact form below with your preferred date, location, and approximate group size. I'll get back to you within 24 hours to confirm availability and details. Once we've agreed on the event, I'll send a payment link to secure the booking.

What happens if the weather is bad?

I make a weather call by noon on the day of the event. If the forecast shows ≥50% cloud cover, any chance of precipitation, thunder, or humidity above 80%, I'll cancel and issue a 75% refund. The remaining 25% covers equipment prep, scheduling, and travel costs. Rescheduling may be possible depending on availability — just ask.

Where do you travel for astronomy nights?

I'm available in Tucson, Oro Valley, and Marana. Other nearby areas may be possible — reach out and I'll let you know.

Can you accommodate larger groups?

The flat rate covers up to 17 guests. Larger groups are possible with prior notice and planning — pricing and logistics may vary. Get in touch and we'll work something out.
